On Tuesday, March 19th my Mother who has dementia went to the doctor to get her back looked at because she had fallen and hurt it. They did a CT scan and found some other non-back related concerns and had her admitted to the hospital. Those non-back related issues turned out to be lung cancer and late-term non-operable liver cancer. After further tests to confirm the diagnosis and a lot of discussion, the decision was made to admit her to Hospice care because the doctor said that she wouldn't be able to handle the chemo she would need to prolong her life. She was scheduled to be moved to Hospice on Friday the 29th. She passed away in her sleep on Thursday the 28th. She was 79. My Father held a service for their friends in Arizona where they currently lived and this Saturday there will be a service and burial in the town I grew up in in Illinois. Rest in peace Mom.

Hello everyone! I've been fairly quiet on DA this year. 2021 has not been the best of years for my family. Early in the year my Father-in-law suffered a major stroke and nearly died. He's still in physical therapy to this day from it. Early autumn my Mom had most of her colon removed and almost didn't recover from the surgery. It was very touch and go for just over a month for her. Right around the same time my Dad needed three stints inserted around his heart. That went a lot smoother than my Mom's procedure thankfully. Then the final blow for the year to the family happened the week before Thanksgiving. My Mother-in-Law was getting treated for blood clots and wound up getting COVID (Don't get political. She was fully vaccinated and still got it. It happens.) She developed a bad cough which dislodged a clot and caused her to pass away from a heart attack. Because her husband still needs help getting around I then helped my brother-in-law do some remodeling of his house
